About me
In John's ten years as a teacher, he helped start a school in Harlem, developed and headed professional development as a lead teacher at the American Museum of Natural History, conducted climatology research at Columbia University and won regional and national awards for his work teaching Earth Science.
After teaching, John received his doctorate at Teachers College, started work as a Program Officer and then a Research Associate and finally a Senior Education Researcher at Math for America, designing and evaluating professional learning for over one thousand public school math and science teachers in New York City.
In his current position as the Director of Internal Research at EL Education, John utilizes design-based research and improvement science to understand what is working and where using mixed methods across a nation-wide portfolio of schools and districts that utilize EL Education's whole school model as well as their many curricular services, each advancing a vision of student achievement that reaches the whole child.
In his free time, John serves as adjunct faculty at the American Museum of Natural History, kayaks on the Hudson River, and spends time outside with his wife and two sons.
