Carlise King is the executive director of the
Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC) and a policy scholar at Child Trends. Carlise leads efforts to improve the coordination and use of early childhood data across education, social services, and public health sectors to inform policy and strengthen early childhood systems.
With over 20 years of experience, Carlise is a nationally recognized expert with experience leading research related to child care access, subsidies, licensed child care supply, child care costs, the child care workforce, and early childhood data systems. She works closely with policymakers, practitioners, and advocacy organizations to advance coordinated early care and education (ECE) data systems that enhance program quality, workforce development, and child outcomes. Under Carlise’s leadership, ECDC provides tools, resources, and a national forum to help state policymakers build and use integrated data systems. These efforts help states improve the effectiveness of ECE programs, increase access to high-quality services, and drive meaningful policy change. Carlise regularly advises stakeholders, contributes to national policy discussions, and ensures that research and data are leveraged to improve outcomes for young children and families.
